A Time-Lapse video will allow you to watch a sequence of events that would naturally take a long time, in a very short amount of time. A popular use for this technique is to record plant growth. A plant may take a month to grow which would be boring to watch – With time-lapse video, this process could be seen in under a minute. If you’re creative in what you record, time-lapse photography can yield some amazing results.

Download the AnimatorDV software, just type it into a search engine. The installation process is very easy, just go with the default settings. Before you start the program, plug in the camera you intend to capture the video with, wait until the computer recognises it and then start the software. If you’re running the software on an older computer, you might want to resume the computer first and run the software on its own (it’s quite CPU and RAM intensive).

Once you start the program, you’ll need to specify the directory the program should use to store the images you capture. When you have configured this and your camera settings, the main program window will load and display the live feed from your camera.

Now that the program has started, click ‘Tools’ from the menu bar at the top of the screen and then click ‘Time Lapse…’. A screen will appear that will allow you to set options for your time-lapse capture. You can start and stop the capture yourself, or schedule the computer to automatically start and stop the capture at designated times. You will also be capable to set the capture rate, anything from one frame a day to 59 frames a second! Once you’re happy with the settings, click start and your pictures will be captured astatine the preset rate.

Once you have captured the event you wanted to record, you’ll want to exportation the series of pictures into a video file that anyone can view. To do this, select ‘Sequences’ from the menu bar astatine the top of the screen. Then click ‘Make Avi…’ from the drop-down list. Select a location, click OK and your video will be created
